Mr.
Power's industrial career has been totally devoted to new products,
including licensing and acquisitions, new product development,
and the successful launching of major new products in the cardiovascular,
antibiotic, neurological, vaccine and other fields. Further,
he directed the new business departments of two major pharmaceutical
companies and was responsible for licensing or acquiring numerous
pharmaceutical, diagnostic, device and consumer products which
generated several hundred million dollars of new business. In
addition, Mr. Power managed the strategic planning portion of
these programs.
Mr.
Power established and was President of R.G. Power Associates
Inc. in the early 1980's to provide business development planning,
licensing and acquisitions services to the healthcare industry.
He has worked with over 30 companies, primarily new ventures,
to do corporate partnering deals worldwide. Key to this success
has been his ability to access key anagement people in the
U.S., Europe and Japan. Further, he has worked extensively
with the venture capital community, assisting start-up companies
in their financing endeavors.
These
partnering collaborations have included: a $60 million joint
venture between a large and an emerging U.S.-based pharmaceutical
company, a $30 million equity/licensing deal between a Japanese
and a U.S. firm, a $10 million straight equity investment
for medical device rights, a $15 million acquisition of a
consumer product business and numerous other straight product
licensing agreements, involving fees and R&D support.
Mr.
Power was instrumental in founding two new venture companies,
Pharmatec, Inc. and Xenon Vision and served as CEO of both.
Prior
to establishing his consulting firm, Mr. Power enjoyed a successful
career in the pharmaceutical industry first as Head of Business
Development at SmithKline and Searle, and culminating as
a Corporate Officer at
Johnson & Johnson .
Mr.
Power graduated cum laude from Loras College with majors in
biology and chemistry and earned additional graduate credits
from the University of Wisconsin. He has served on numerous
Boards.
