Dr Rino Coldangelo
Executive Director
Dr Rino Coladangelo is an experienced physician and life sciences executive with more than 40 years of experience spanning clinical medicine, pharmaceutical development, regulatory affairs, manufacturing quality, healthcare management and corporate finance.
Following a successful career in clinical medicine and senior NHS management, Rino moved into the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector. He co-founded Medix UK, a pioneering healthcare-focused online market research company serving international pharmaceutical clients.
He subsequently served as Chief Executive Officer of Rephine, a global pharmaceutical consultancy specialising in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), regulatory compliance, quality assurance and clinical trial standards. Under his leadership, Rephine expanded to serve more than 200 clients across 65 countries and was successfully acquired by private equity firm Kester Capital in 2021.
Rino has also held senior leadership and board positions with several pharmaceutical companies, including Executive Chairman of Mondial Medicines, a US-based business focused on ophthalmic products and specialty injectables, and Director of Theriaca, an Italian pharmaceutical company.
He is currently Managing Director of Toro Corporate Finance, advising pharmaceutical and life sciences businesses on funding and corporate development.
Earlier in his career, Rino held senior NHS management positions, including Managing Director of Clinical Services at North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, where he had responsibility for 1,800 staff and an annual budget of £120 million.
Education and Professional Qualifications
Rino qualified in medicine at The Middlesex Hospital Medical School, University of London, obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB BS) in 1974. He subsequently attained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 1978.
He has been a regular speaker at international pharmaceutical industry conferences, particularly on business development, regulatory compliance and pharmaceutical quality.
Rino is fluent in English and Italian and speaks conversational French.
